I’m Leith Henderson, and during my years in the roofing trade, I’ve witnessed remarkable changes in how we approach roof construction. What started as simple protection from the elements has evolved into something far more exciting – roofs that work harder for our homes and our environment.
Back in 2016, when I formed LH Roofing, most customers wanted straightforward repairs and replacements. These days, we’re seeing a real shift towards sustainable solutions that look fantastic too. It’s particularly satisfying to help homeowners make choices that benefit both their properties and the planet.
We’re thoroughly enjoying the challenge of installing innovative roofing systems. Take living roofs, for instance – they’re a brilliant example of how roofing technology has improved. These vegetation-covered systems naturally regulate your home’s temperature, improve local air quality, and manage rainwater brilliantly. We’ve installed several, and the feedback has been tremendous.
Solar integration is another development we’re passionate about. Solar shingle installation – they’re remarkable really, turning your roof into an energy-generating asset while maintaining that traditional roof appearance. The satisfaction of helping customers reduce their energy bills while doing their bit for the environment is immense.
Although traditional materials like cedar shingles remain popular – and we do love working with them – we’re seeing increasing interest in recycled metal roofing. It’s thoroughly satisfying to show customers how these modern materials can look absolutely stunning while being environmentally responsible. Copper roofing is particularly impressive; watching it develop its natural patina over time is rather special.
What I enjoy most about today’s roofing projects is helping customers understand their options.
